About Robert's Tires & Wheels

Robertโ€™s Tire and Wheels was opened in 1979 for Robert's friends and family. In the years following, the San Francisco tire store, automotive service shop, and wheel center grew to become the business you know today. When you need custom wheels, automotive repairs, or tires in San Francisco, come to the shop that's been serving happy customers for over three decades. We provide auto repair and preventive maintenance services to keep your vehicle in top condition. See us for brake repair, battery installation, shocks and struts, engine diagnostics, wheel alignment, and more.

Robert's Tires & Wheels is one of the tire shops listed in San Francisco, California. Tire shops sell and install new tires, patch punctures, balance wheels and, at most locations, align the suspension. Prices are quoted per tire plus mounting, balancing, valve stems and a state disposal fee for the old set; many shops price-match and include free rotation and flat repair for the life of the tire. Used tire shops sell inspected take-offs for a fraction of the price of new ones, useful for an older car or a single replacement, but check the tread depth (4/32 inch or more) and the DOT date code, since rubber ages even on the shelf. Mobile tire services come to your driveway or the roadside, commercial shops handle semi, trailer, farm and off-road tires, and wheel shops repair and refinish bent or curb-scraped rims.

The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. The most common schedule is 7:30 amโ€“5 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (415) 243-9282. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is robertstires.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 135 reviews, which is a strong result for a tire shop in San Francisco and suggests consistent service.

Thereโ€™s a saying Iโ€™ve heard before. It goes โ€œLeave something better than when you found it.โ€ After receiving service from Robertโ€™s Tires and Wheels, it was clear that this is a standard that Robert and his team really take to heart. When taking my car in to have its hub bearing assembly fixed, I received such exceptional and personal service that one could extend only to a friend. And everyone needs a friend like Robert. If youโ€™re looking to have your car serviced, look no further than Robertโ€™s!

Had all 4 tires leaking ... one would lose half its air in about two weeks, and another about one quarter ... the two on the driver side were slow but steady leakers ... passenger side serious curb rash ... figured I would be replacing at least two rims ... looking at how much ... $600 ... $700? Bob did an inspection ... suggested they could refurbish the rims ... end result was two leaking stems (driver's side) repaired and two curbside rims with serious corrision in addition to the curb rash refurbished ... one week later, all tires remain fully inflated ... $270 ... had a nice chat as well, learning he had started in the business when he was 18 ... worked for six years learning the trade ... then 40 years ago, started Robert's Tires & Wheels at its current location ... many thanks Bob ... a pleasure to meet you and do business with you.

If you believe in karma and have ever been on the receiving end of an SFMTA ticket that was totally BS (so, basically every San Franciscan), think twice before giving this guy your business. Iโ€™ve been a customer here twice. Youโ€™d think that would earn a little neighborly goodwill. Nope. The owner called SFMTA because my back bumper was barely in the red zone of a gated and locked driveway. Not blocking anything. Justโ€ฆ existing near his precious red paint. I parked overnight and was there in the morning to head out to work, but by 8:08 a.m., he had already gleefully called SFMTA. Ticket issued. Mission accomplished. $108 ticket issued. I'm sure that made his day, like fresh puppy blood. Iโ€™ve lived in this neighborhood for twenty years, and let me tell you โ€” this guy treats calling SFMTA the way most people treat happy hour. He lives for it. If thereโ€™s a citation fairy, heโ€™s her favorite pen pal. So if you loathe SFMTA and their zero-tolerance tax on anyone who owns a car in SF โ€” while the city seemingly enforces nothing on anyone else โ€” DO NOT reward our neighborhood ogre someone who does this to former customers and neighbors. Get your tires at Costco or literally anywhere else

I came here wanting to like this shop, considering the high number of positive reviews. I got bad news that all four of my tires were beyond repair (this is obviously not the shop's fault). When I told the individual (I presume the owner) that my tires were recently replaced and should be under warranty, he kept telling me he couldn't give me a piece of paper saying the tires were looked at and they were beyond repair for "liability reasons." I don't get it. I understand the shop wants to sell tires and I was trying to make a warranty claim with tirerack, instead of buying immediately. He also couldn't blow some air into my tire so I could drive away, for "liability reasons." I've had better and friendlier service in numerous auto shops. I did also think the $80 quote to do a flat repair (before we realized they were not repairable) was quite expensive compared to other shops in the city.

I visited Robertโ€™s Tire and Wheels (986 Harrison Street) for the the first time today and it was a very pleasant experience. Upon arrival, I spoke to the owner of the business, Robert, who was very friendly and easy to work with. Robert has been in business in the Bay Area since 1979. In addition to the obvious, selling tires and wheels, Robertโ€™s also offers several mechanical repairs ranging from belts and hoses to cooling system repairs. When I initially visited before the repairs took place, Robert asked, โ€œwhat was I in need of and how could he help.โ€ Iโ€™m not an auto technician so my ability to explain the situation is that of a layman. Robert came out to the vehicle, inspected all four (4) tires, taught me about the age of a tire by finding the date on it, and mentioned the importance of wear and tear. I purchased four (4) brand new tires and a wheel alignment. Luckily, Robertโ€™s Tire and Wheels also offers coupons in their website. I was able to use a $60 off coupon. Robertโ€˜a team changed my wheels and did the alignment in about 2 hours. Four new tires and a wheel alignment cost a little over $500 with the coupon which is fair. Iโ€™m pleased with the quality of the work, and woul
